First Responder Training

Course Name: First Responder Training



First Responder training will provide staff with a general basic understanding of situational awareness and scene safety, should they be required to respond to and control a scene of an incident.

They will also gain the knowledge of who and how to report the incident, and provided skills for managing volatile situations.

  • Be prepared to respond to uncertain situations and manage it safely
  • Conduct initial situation assessment
  • Identify risks and make an area safe
  • Establish scene control
  • Note relevant information and provide a situation report
  • Be able to immediately identify required support
  • Be aware of media on scene

Who Should Attend:



H & S Reps, Emergency Management Team personnel, Housing representatives, Childcare Centre, Curtin Stadium, Curtin Business that deal with staff, students and members of the public in an open environment.

    Number of Participants:


    A maximum of 20 participants


    To register for training please log into OASIS

    • Access iPerform via the 'My Work' tab
    • Click 'Browse for Training'
    • Locate your course from the list
    • Available sessions will be displayed at the bottom of the next screen                
    • Choose your session and click 'request'

    Once registered, you will be returned to 'My Training'.  All active training will appear on this screen.

    Cancellation Policy

    All cancellations must be received at least 5 business days before the start of each session. Cancellations must be received in writing by e-mail to Health, Safety and Emergency Management (HSEM). If course fees apply, cancellation after 5 business days or a ‘no show’, the full session payment will apply. Refunds can be obtained through the Curtin ePay system.  To cancel sessions please do so through iPerform to allow another staff members to take your place

    Health, Safety and Emergency Management Reserve the right to cancel any course if insufficient enrolments are received. Should this occur, those who are enrolled will be notified and will be priority for the next available course.
