Course Name: Care with Cryogenics

“Care with Cryogenics” Dewar and liquid nitrogen training is a package developed to
reinforce the safe working practises of liquid nitrogen in the work place. Dewar’s can be a potential hazard if the correct procedures are not thoroughly followed. Staff are trained in safe procedures for the handling, storage and use of Dewar’s and liquid nitrogen.

Content Outline:

• Hazards and properties of liquid nitrogen
• Safe handling of liquid nitrogen
• Contingency planning for liquid nitrogen incidents
• Type and size of Dewar’s
• The correct way to fill a Dewar.
• Safety apparel used
• A certificate will be forwarded to trainees that completed the training course to signify
their safety knowledge

Who Should Attend: All people who work with liquid nitrogen Dewars. 
No of Participants: Maximum of 15 participants per session.


To register for training please log into OASIS

  • Access iPerform via the 'My Work' tab
  • Click 'Browse for Training'
  • Locate your course from the list
  • Available sessions will be displayed at the bottom of the next screen                
  • Choose your session and click 'request'

Once registered, you will be returned to 'My Training'.  All active training will appear on this screen.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be received at least 5 business days before the start of each session. Cancellations must be received in writing by e-mail to Health, Safety and Emergency Management (HSEM). If course fees apply, cancellation after 5 business days or a ‘no show’, the full session payment will apply. Refunds can be obtained through the Curtin ePay system.  To cancel sessions please do so through iPerform to allow another staff members to take your place

Health, Safety and Emergency Management Reserve the right to cancel any course if insufficient enrolments are received. Should this occur, those who are enrolled will be notified and will be priority for the next available course.
